SOMERSET – A proposed host agreement to build energy-generating windmills will be back on the Town Board agenda tonight, and Supervisor Richard Meyers expects a big crowd.
The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall, 8700 Haight Road, but Meyers said Monday that if he gets the crowd he’s expecting, he may move the meeting to the nearby Barker Fire Company Hall at 1660 Quaker Road.
The pending contract is with Empire State Wind Energy, owned by billionaire businessman B. Thomas Golisano. Meyers said the vote has been delayed by Empire’s litigation restrictions.
“Empire has made it clear to me that they believe we’ve had this [contract] long enough and if we don’t sign it, they have other people interested and they will move on,” Meyers said.
