Legislator pushes wind initiative in Broome County

Third District Broome County Legislator Jason Garnar will host representatives of Empire State Wind Energy, LLC at the Legislature’s Economic Development and Planning Committee Meeting on Tuesday, June 12th at the Broome County office building.

Empire State Wind Energy was recently started by New York billionaire Tom Golisano, and is committed to working with local governments to help see clean power production involve and benefit local people, local communities, and New York’s economy.

“Skyrocketing energy costs are making life miserable for our residents and are greatly damaging the local economy in Broome County. We need to immediately look at ways to provide our residents and businesses with cheap and abundant sources of energy. Wind power is one of those sources, and Empire State Wind Energy is just one of many companies that can potentially help us”, said Garnar.

Representatives of Empire State Wind Energy will discuss the process of determining the feasibility of using Wind Power in Broome County. They will also discuss the various models of a private/public wind power partnership. The meeting is open to all members of the public.
