An application to build two wind turbines on land at Cross Moor, Knowstone has been given the thumbs down by county councillors.
The development control committee meeting last Wednesday backed the recommendation put before them to object to the proposal.
Members felt the impact on the local landscape outweighed the renewable energy and economic benefits of the scheme. There were however, no objections in principle on highways grounds.
The final planning decision on the matter rests with North Devon District Council.
