VILLENOVA – In the hills of this town and portions of neighboring Hanover, a major green-energy project has taken on the look of an enviromental disaster. Concrete litters parts of the landscape while nearby residents worry streams and creeks are becoming contaminated as blasting activities have created a scar for homeowners and wildlife. What was once a quiet and serene natural setting has become an assembly line operation due to faulty concrete foundations that were poured and are now needed to . . .

Despite his love of green energy, a Wyoming biologist tracking golden eagle deaths is calling for Carbon and Albany Counties to put the brakes on wind energy expansion. “In my opinion, existing wind projects are already causing a chronic population decline of resident eagles,” Mike Lockhart, a biologist with 33 years of experience, told Cowboy State Daily last week. Lockhart’s comments referenced his years-long eagle tracking project, which attributed multiple golden eagle deaths to wind turbine strikes. Lockhart said that . . .

Inverness County council has put a six-month hold on any new wind developments in order to review wind turbine bylaws that haven’t been updated since 2012. The decision comes after more than 200 people joined a community group against the proposed Rhodena Wind project, which would bring 15 turbines to the hills between Highway 19 and the Trans-Canada Highway. Coun. John MacLennan, who represents District 4, was the only councillor to vote against the moratorium. He said he isn’t sure . . .

Ted Rogers stands near his front porch and gazes past the long gravel driveway that stretches out to State Route A. The Buchanan County farmer says, to no one in particular, “it’s coming.” Nothing that happened in this year’s legislative session changes his premonition about the Grain Belt Express and its impact on the house that his parents moved into in 1955. He’s lived there since 1984. “It’s going to run right past the house,” Rogers said. “Let’s just say . . .

New York, Victories, Wind power, Wind energy
GLEN – Residents cheered after learning Borrego Solar withdrew its application to construct an over-600-foot-tall wind turbine on Reynolds Road in Glen. “I am ecstatic that we are not getting a wind turbine in my backyard and our beautiful viewshed,” Michele Wadsworth said during Wednesday’s Planning Board meeting. Wadsworth’s home on Severin Road adjoins the proposed project site and would have been the property most heavily impacted by the turbine. After months of sounding off about the project, she thanked the . . .
