Say NO to the proposed Allt Duine wind farm.
We, the undersigned, oppose the building of 31 wind turbines at Allt Duine in the Monadhliath Mountains on the edge of Cairngorms National Park for the following reasons. To:
– preserve the character of the Highlands for future generations because the wind farm stands to damage and alter the character and unique qualities of the area.
– defend the Monadhliath Mountains and Cairngorms National Park from being scarred by turbines. Those proposed could be visible from up to 35km (22miles) away, ruining views from various locations. Successive recent wind farm developments are having a cumulative effect in eroding the natural heritage of the Highlands.
– maintain the area for tourism and recreational activities because the application will have a negative knock-on effect on tourism and the local economy. There are well-defined recreational routes that could be eclipsed and the proposed site will be visible from the Cairn Gorm Mountain Railway and Rothiemurchus Estate, both of which are listed in the top-10 visitor attractions for the area.
– protect wild land, local wildlife and habitats from damage brought about by the construction and operation of the turbines. Habitats of many wildlife species are at risk should this development go ahead.
We, therefore, urge the Highlands Council and Scottish Government not to grant consent for this potential devastating application.
