Fíneálacha laethúla fós á n-íoc ag an stát faoi sciorradh talún

[State still has to pay daily fines for landslide – Houses were damaged, roads had to be closed, and the lives of locals were disrupted for a long time owing to the disaster.]

Sciorradh mór talún i nDaraidh Braoin, 2003

Tá fíneálacha breise €5.5 milliún gearrtha ar an Stát ag Cúirt Bhreithiúnais an Aontais Eorpaigh mar nach bhfuiltear ag cloí fós le caighdeáin chuí chomhshaoil ag mórionad cumhachta gaoithe i nDaraidh Braoin i ndeisceart na Gaillimhe.

Tá €15,000 á ghearradh gach lá ar an Stát le bliain mar gheall ar an bhfaillí seo agus gan aon chosúlacht réitigh ar an scéal.

Tá fíneáil aon uaire €5 mhilliún íoctha cheana féin i mbliana ag an Stát leis an gCoimisiún Eorpach faoi nár cloíodh leis na caighdeáin chuí.

Baineann an cás le 70 tuirbín gaoithe a cuireadh suas ar Shliabh Eachtaí sa bhliain 2003.

Tharla sciorradh mór portaigh ar an sliabh agus an suíomh á réiteach, agus chuaigh na mílte méadar ciúbach de mhóin le fána.

Rinneadh damáiste do thithe, b’éigean bóithre a dhúnadh agus cuireadh as go mór do shaol mhuintir na háite ar feadh i bhfad mar gheall ar an tubaiste.

Fochomhlacht de chuid Bhord Soláthair an Leictreachais a thóg an t-ionad agus tuigtear go bhfuil siad ag obair ann i gcónaí féachaint leis an suíomh a dhaingniú agus a thabhairt chun críche.
