I find it quite ironic that any article about wind never discusses the impact of wind turbines on the lives of rural residents forced to live with these monstrosities and we farmers who are forced to farm around them. Unless one is a property owner lured by the offer of $10,000/year, almost no one living within sight of these ugly behemoths supports the building of wind turbines in their neighborhood. Maybe the Register should give their readers the rest of the story and interview the victims.
The Oct. 10 Register headlined wind on the front page and followed the exact script written by the wind industry. Unfortunately, the propaganda has been swallowed “hook, line and sinker” by not only mainstream media, but several respected politicians as well. The list is headlined by our own Sen. Grassley, who champions government subsidies for wind in the name of “economic development.”
There are two points the wind industry refuses to acknowledge. The first is wind is dead without subsidies and will never compete in a free market. The second is a life-cycle cost analysis, using fossil fuels as the base, shows more fossil fuel is expended over the lifetime of a wind turbine than will ever be recovered.
