North-West Euro-MP Paul Nuttall has criticised a European Court of Justice decision against a major organisation representing anti-windfarm groups.
The UKIP deputy leader said a ruling that the European Platform Against Windfarms does not have ‘legal personality’ and therefore no right to initiate a legal action was ‘disgraceful’.
It had tried to bring a case against the European Commission claiming its latest renewable energy targets failed to respect the rights of citizens to participate in environmental decision-making.
Mr Nuttall said: “This is a disgraceful judgement.
“In my view this judgment shows the contempt in which the European Union holds local protesters against windfarms.”
