Plan to go to government

Following Glen Innes Severn Council’s decision to adopt the development control plan for wind power generation, council discussed the appropriate course of recommendations to the consent authority, the NSW Minister for Planning Frank Sator in relation to the Glen Innes Wind farm.

At present council has not been requested by the Director-General to lodge a formal reply in response to the proposed Glen Innes Wind farm in the Furracabad Valley as the developer is yet to submit an adequate environmental assessment. Director of Development and Environmental Services Graham Price asked for council’s direction on what basis a submission should be made, on the DCP alone or with added information.

A motion was moved that Mr Price forward a copy of the DCP to the Minister as well as the Member for the Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay following the council meeting. A copy of the DCP is also expected to be submitted when the Director-General calls for public submissions upon the environmental assessment being placed on public exhibition.
