Glenkens’ windfarm number 12 has moved a step closer.
Planners have given the green light to a 70 metre high anemometer on a hillside to the west of Round Craigs on Manquill Hill, just north of the B729 Carsphairn to Moniaive road.
The wind measuring mast will be in place for up to three years. There were no objections to the application which was granted subject to a string of conditions.
Fife-based Burcote Wind are behind the application on the site it has identified for a £130 million 36 turbine development.
If that goes ahead, along with the other eleven in the pipeline, the number of turbines in the Glenkens would soar to more than 300.
The windfarm plans have come in for criticism by pressure group Turbine Watch312.
