Where are these Vermonters who “overwhelmingly support” the wind tower project in Lowell as quoted by Dorothy Schnure of Green Mountain Power in The Newport Daily Express? Where are the Vermonters who are saying “yes” to big business demolishing 200 miles of ridgeline in our state as they have done in Sheffield, and now in Lowell? Where are the Vermonters who want to see these huge wind towers covering so many of our mountaintops – first, destroying the natural resources and beauty that we live here for – and that many come to experience; and secondly being giant billboards (which we are smart enough to say no to) promoting big business even in our remotest of remotes?
This is what will happen if we, Vermonters – who live here for the beauty that surrounds us, the solace and joy this lifestyle brings – don’t say “no” to large foreign corporations using our beautiful environment and supposed inexperience for their tax incentives and retirement funds.
So, where are these Vermonters saying, “Yes! Take our mountains – destroy our natural resources! We love seeing big business covering all 200 miles of our ridgelines. We love how you manipulate our government, destroy our environment and threaten our neighbors. ”
Wake up, Vermont, or one day there won’t be any reason to wake up in Vermont.
Gov. Shumlin is taking our calls now. Let him hear from you: 802-828-3333.
