A wind turbine approved for a Banffshire beauty spot is motivated by greed, a councillor has claimed.
Councillor Jack Mair hit out at the application last week during an impassioned plea to protect the Deveron Valley at Auchenbadie Farm, Alvah from the proliferation of wind turbines in Aberdeenshire.
He told his colleagues on the Banff and Buchan area committee: “We are only here for a short time and we must not make a mess of our land.
“We have plenty of other areas to put up turbines – there is no need for this site to be used.”
Referring to the lucrative payments made for wind energy, he added: “This is greed, absolute greed.
“The applicant has already made a heap of dough, and is looking to make more.”
