Guilty of "NIMBYism"…
NIMBY has become a rather well known acronym of late. For those who are not familiar with it, the letters stand for “not in my back yard.” The term is generally negative, as one who is accused of “NIMBYism” is basically thought of as a hypocrite – one who is supportive of some kind of development, as long as the development is nowhere near his property. Sheffield survey shows 70 percent opposed to wind turbines
Ridge Protectors, a group opposed to wind turbines on Sheffield’s ridge lines, say they’ve surveyed residents, and about 70 percent of them oppose the project. They plan to present a petition to the selectmen Wednesday night, October 5, asking that town officials convey the town’s opposition to state regulatory agencies as well as the project’s sponsor. A Newton, Massachusetts, company, UPC Wind Management, LLC, wants to put up at least 24 turbines on Hardscrabble Mountain in Sheffield to generate electricity. . . . Complete story »
