Learn the history of how large corporations have become so powerful, and how small groups of people came to be able to take away the right to decide what happens at the local level, from the majority of the citizens.
As you know, unless each town has specific pre-existing laws, outside corporations and agencies can force their way in and develop what they want; for example, waste dumps, cement plants, corporation farms, or water bottling facilities, etc.
We, then struggle with begging for mitigation.
At this time we have little effective way to stop them. New York State government seems determined to eliminate our right to Home Rule.
So, this is a plea to be proactive and involve yourself in collaborative strategies and actions.
It’s timely and crucial that we have this Democracy School now.

PS: Phyllis Darling and I attended this school; IT’S TERRIFIC!
PPS: I know many of us are working frantically to influence things at the State level. The threat of Article 10 is looming and the State Senate may vote on it July 16th.
We have reserved the Stafford Town Hall for the Democracy School. It holds 100 people.
Democracy School is sending their very best speakers and teachers.
This is an opportune time.
WE NEED TO BE UNITED IN THE PRESENT POLITICAL CLIMATE AND MUST STAND UP FOR OUR COLLECTIVE RIGHTS.
The Democracy School may provide us a new avenue to affect our issues.
