The term “wind energy” usually refers to the generation of electricity from the wind.
In the typical horizontal-axis 3-blade design, each blade is more rounded on one side so that the kinetic energy of the wind creates a vacuum in the same way that an airplane wing works. The blades are thus pulled around and turn the rotor hub on which they are mounted, which turns a turbine that generates electricity.
