Wind farm opposition want more answers from city

4 August 2016 | www.tbnewswatch.com

THUNDER BAY – A group that vocally opposed a proposed find farm in the Nor-Wester Mountain escarpment has surfaced, demanding to know the status of a lease agreement between the city and the organization that originally proposed the wind farm.

Members of the Nor’Wester Mountain Escarpment Protection Committee sent a community update, dated July 30, to media Thursday afternoon.

The community update serves mostly as a historical reminder of the group’s previous fight against Horizon Wind Inc.’s proposed Big Thunder Wind Park, which essentially ended in Oct. 2015.

Despite that victory, the group says it has “respectfully requested that the City of Thunder bay provide an update to the community on the status of the lease agreement between the City and Horizon Wind.

“NMEPC remains committed to eh protection of these Thunder Bay owned land in the Loch Lomond Watershed and feels that no further decisions should be undertaken without thorough and transparent public consultation.”
