Liberals blasted over turbines near Collingwood

More criticism of the Ontario government over it’s approval of giant wind turbines near the Collingwood airport.

Simcoe Grey Conservative MPP Jim Wilson told Bayshore Broadcasting listeners on an Open Line show, Premier Kathleen Wynne has been all over the map on wind generated power.

Wilson claims the Ontario government has given away one billion dollars worth of electricity to Quebec, New York state and Michigan, while residents keep paying more and more for hydro.

The Simcoe Grey MPP says of the hundreds of communities appealing their wind turbines only 3 projects have ever been turned down or reversed.

Jim Wilson says one of those is in the Goderich area, which is also near an airport.

The Tory MPP says in that case, Transport Canada got involved and fought the plan.

As you are well aware, WPD Canada is looking to set up 8 mega wind turbines not far from Collingwood airport and the Clearview Aerodrome.

At a Environmental Assessment Tribunal hearing last week, the Ontario government was blasted over the plan.

One of the worlds leading experts in aviation safety and accident investigations, Charles Pereira, told the hearing there is “no doubt” that putting wind turbines near two airports will cause “fatal catastrophic accidents”.

Pereira was a lead investigator in the 9-11 and Columbia shuttle disasters among many other aviation accidents.
