Press Release by the Saskatoon Wind Turbine Coalition

Tonight at Saskatoon’s City Council meeting, concerned citizens representing the Saskatoon Wind Turbine Coalition will be addressing Council, on Saskatoon Light and Power’s proposed tall wind turbine at the Saskatoon landfill.

Fresh from celebrating Council’s deferral of the awarding of a contractor from the December 19th meeting to the January 16th 2012 Council meeting, the Saskatoon Wind Turbine Coalition’s message tonight will be to call for responsible decision making on behalf of all residents.

“We are happy the City has listened to our demand that they defer awarding a contractor from their December 19th meeting. Our objective now is to engage with Council on behalf of the hundreds of concerned citizens who’ve gotten involved in this issue over the last number of weeks. We will continue to mobilize opposition to this project, until Council makes it clear, no decision will be made until all the facts are in.” announced the Saskatoon Wind Turbine Coalition.

On Wednesday December 7th at 7:30 PM at Montgomery School there will be a public information meeting held to educate residents about the potential impacts of Saskatoon Light and Power’s proposed wind turbine. Carmen Krogh, of the Society for Wind Vigilance will be making a presentation on her peer-reviewed research, and Saskatoon Light and Power has been invited to have a representative provide information about the project. All are welcome to attend.
