Turbine health

A group of anti wind turbine activists want the local health department to join their fight against the Wolfe Island wind turbine project.

Members of “Wolf Island Residents for the Environment” [sic] made a presentation to the public heath [sic] board this afternoon.

The group says the wind turbine project failed to include public health as a key stake holder in the environmental review.

Group members say the noise produced by 86 wind turbines will impact the health of island residents.

Studies have shown a wind turbine’s “swishing” sound can get very loud.

The island group says the issue needs more study[.]

Lynne Moore:

“Vibrations, low acoustical sounds, you know the thumping of base [sic] goes right through your home or car if you have the music too loud, the key issue is the noise criteria they are using to give a certificate of approval for these turbines.”

The Wolfe Island group wants the health unit to back its call for an independent environmental assessment.
