Many Bruce County residents want more information on wind turbines.
The Windfarm Action Group or WAG hosted a public meeting last night in Port Elgin on the windfarm issue.
Former Bruce township resident, Carol Clark says there needs to be more information sharing on wind turbines – its not just a local issue.
She says Shelburne and Kingsbridge residents have been negatively impacted by wind farms – who are now objecting to the second phase of development.
Enbridge Ontario Wind Project plans to build 121 turbines in Kincardine and Saugeen Shores.
Clark says she is not opposed to wind turbines.
She is concerned about noise and safety and wants to ensure there are adequate setbacks.
North Bruce resident Trix Smit says there are dangers and concerns with greenpower.
She says the turbines are an eyesore and could create problems with migatory bird paths.
WAG Spokesperson Kathy McCarrel says the setback distances between the turbines and homes are not adequate when compared to Europe’s standards.
McCarrel feels this project is moving way too fast, adding the density is severely dangerous for the public.
