Arising from an appeal by Anthony Cohu, Clive and Teresa Evans and others, An Bord Pleanála refused permission on 08 July 2014 for the proposed Ardragh wind farm of five wind turbines on the grounds of:

The proposed development, which is not located within a ‘Strategic Search area’, is located immediately adjacent to areas designated as ‘Strategically Unsuitable Areas’ where wind energy projects would normally be discouraged.

The proposed development would, in conjunction with proposed and permitted development in the area, give rise to an undue concentration of wind energy development with significant negative impacts on the landscape character and visual amenities of the area.

The proposed development would be contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.
