Ill wind that does no good
Having spent four days at Hartlepool over Easter, which the Met Office says was the coldest one since 1964, I must report first hand on what must surely be a wake up call to the way wind turbines are being forced upon us with a false promise of their generating capabilities.
There was a clutch of seven and further along another three which were visible from the outskirts of Hartlepool. The blades from all of these turbines were stationery for the whole period I was there.
Luckily there was a gas-cooled nuclear power station about a mile along the coast.
I was talking to a local who said the turbines don’t seem to work very much (perhaps the wrong sort of wind) and the power station was to be decommissioned in 2014 – probably to be replaced by a coal fired one.
I am not a climate change denier, but considering scientists worldwide are now questioning this ‘manmade’ global warming pandemic, isn’t it about time we ignored those greens’ ‘solutions’ which would be Draconian and ineffective and followed a sustainable and commonsense strategy for power generation.
