N.S. approves wind farm, but federal officials worry project would kill at-risk birds
A 13-turbine wind farm recently approved by the Nova Scotia government is worrying federal officials, who say there isn’t enough information about what impact the project will have on the endangered roseate tern and other birds. Nova Scotia’s Environment Department approved the Wedgeport Wind Farm, on the province’s southwest coast, on May 4. Counties sign resolution calling for halt to Lava Ridge, other wind projects in Magic Valley
In a rare act of intercounty solidarity, the commissioners of eight counties signed a joint resolution opposing three wind energy projects proposed for public lands in the Magic Valley. Wind turbine near Greenwood NY catches fire
Fire crews watch as turbine burns 400 feet above West Union, Rexville NY. Fire crews are on site of a wind turbine fire just over the Allegany-Steuben County line in Greenwood. Debris is being extinguished as it falls from the tower but crews are helpless to put out the blaze which is well above the reach. We are assuming this is an electrical fire. ‘Absolutely crazy’: Wind turbine in Dodge County collapses
A neighbor tells WISN 12 News the impact shook their home. Packed house attends Jefferson County zoning meeting on wind energy regulations
Fairbury – About 130 people attended a Jefferson County Planning and Zoning meeting Thursday night, as officials continue to discuss proposed wind energy regulations. NextEra Energy Resources wants permission to build a second wind farm in the county in the Jansen and Plymouth areas, with up to 90 wind turbines. Bovenste deel van windmolen afgebroken op dijk bij Zeewolde [Wind turbine breaks in wind]
