Input wanted on Douglas County prohibition on large solar and wind farms
Last year, the Douglas County Commission became aware of interest by outside entities in putting large-scale solar and wind energy facilities in unincorporated areas of the County. Douglas County Commissioner Marc Straub: Straub says typically international corporations purchase thousands of acres of land for those solar and wind farms. Grundy Co. Board opposes Senate Bill 1602
The Grundy County Board last week approved a resolution opposing Senate Bill 1602. Grundy County Land Use Director Heidi Miller explains. Senate Bill 1602 was filed on February 26th and seeks to mandate specific timelines and other requirements for commercial wind energy facilities. The bill mandates substantive changes including setbacks requirements, blade tip height limitations and several others. ‘Droning noise from E Cape wind farms – bad news for Addo elephants’
“It’s certain that the noise from the turbines will be heard by the elephants of Addo,” says acoustic engineer Terry McKenzie-Hoy. Visitors to the Eastern Cape will notice wind farms sprouting up all over, particularly around Qheberha (Port Elizabeth). Hughes County Commission approves changes to wind tower siting requirements
The Hughes County Commission, taking pages for Hyde County, has amended siting requirements for wind energy towers in the county. Significant testimony both for and against the requirements was presented to Commissioners Monday night. Property rights and concerns from aerial applicators centered over much of the testimony. DeWitt County Zoning Board of Appeals recommends rejecting Tradewind Alta Farms II wind project application
The DeWitt County Zoning Board of Appeals voted to recommend the DeWitt County Board reject the proposal of Tradewind Energy's Alta Farms II Wind Project in the northwest corner of DeWitt County at a special meeting of the ZBA at Clinton High School Tuesday night. Twin Creek Wind Farm debate continues
A wind farm proposed for the Lower Mid North of South Australia, around 12km North of Kapunda, continues to be the topic of discussion for local residents and developers, Renewable Energy Systems (RES), alike. Safety concerns raised after wind turbine struck by lightning in Inishowen
Safety concerns have been raised after a wind turbine in Inishowen was struck by lightning yesterday evening. At around 6 o’clock, one of the wind turbines on Crockbrack Hill, Meanletterbale, was struck, causing damage to one of the 94* metre long turbine blades with dents and scorch marks also visible on the nacelle of the turbine.
