AMA not qualified to judge wind turbine noise emissions
AMA President Dr. Steve Hambleton Vice President Professor Geoffrey Dobb Members of AMA Federal Council Dear Dr Hambleton I wish to make the following statement re the AMA’s Position Statement with respect to ‘Wind Farms and Health 2014’. And support Senator Madigan’s condemnation of the AMA’s stance. I cannot believe this was prepared and agreed to by a vote of the membership of this Association. It is too soul destroying to believe that all let alone some of your profession . . . Complete story »
Issues raised by Waubra Foundation are credible
We are a small environmental group in southeastern France, dealing primarily with local issues which have included, in recent years, environmental impacts of shale gas exploration projects, forest management in the context of the emerging biomass industry, and industrial wind turbine developments in rural areas. We are aware that you recently issued a statement to the effect that no health effects should be feared from infrasound and low frequency noise (ILFN) from industrial wind turbines (IWTs). We also understand that, . . . Complete story »
Nine questions for AMA
Mr. Steve Hambleton, President, Prof. Geoffrey Dobb, Vice-President, Australian Medical Association, P.O. Box 6090, KINGSTON, A.C.T. 2604 Dear Mr. Hambleton and Professor Dobb and AMA members, My name is Ann Gardner and I have lived and worked happily and healthily for 34 years, on my husband’s and my farming property in south-west Victoria until October 2012, when the first only 15 turbines of the Macarthur wind farm began operation, and threw our lives and those of many others, into turmoil. . . . AMA concerned about machines instead of human beings
AMA President Dr. Steve Hambleton Vice President Professor Geoffrey Dobb Members of AMA Federal Council I would like to bring the following comments to your attention. It is a reaction to the Australian Medical Association’s text called Wind Farms and Health – 2014. I am living in Denmark and learned about your text from the internet. I am deeply concerned and disappointed about the views stated there because of their lack of empathy and kindness to a large group of . . . Complete story »
Three more letters on the Aust. Med. Assoc. position statement
Dear Dr Hambleton, Prof Dobb & members of the AMA, We have read your statement regarding Wind Farms & Health 2014 and are left astounded & dismayed that a medical organisation with such high standing as the AMA, has seen fit to diagnose people as ‘suffering’ from nocebo without any obvious personal consultation. Our question to those of you who have written this statement is; how many of the impacted people & families have you actually taken the time to . . . Complete story »
AMA position misleads
Dear Dr. Hambleton and Colleagues, I have read the Australian Medical Associations 2014 position on industrial wind turbine emissions and health. I cannot say anything more simply than your statement is so very wrong and it serves to further mislead the population of Australia and other countries following this serious issue. Loud cyclical noise, infrasound/low frequency noise and episodes of dirty electricity are harming people by turbine facilities that are continuously being installed too close to homes, schools and businesses. . . . Infrasound from wind turbines can trigger migraine and related symptoms
Dear Sir It has come to my knowledge that you have released a position paper about the effects of low frequency noise and infrasound from wind power. I would like to draw your attention to my recently published article about migraine and infrasound in the Swedish Medical Journal “Läkartidningen” which is attached [link]. As you well know, migraine is a polygenetic inherited disease with occasional episodes of headache. It is also well known that people with migraine are more sensitive . . . Complete story »
Some concerns with the AMA position on wind farms and health
Dear AMA Federal Council Members, I have particular interest in the Australian Medical Association (AMA) Position Statement on Wind Farms and Health 2014. Please to do not take offense at my forwardness. I have nowhere near the council’s expertise and I attempt only to make “simple sense” of your statements. I am also in a personal challenge involving the inappropriate siting of industrial wind turbines too near my home. I suspect the opposing litigants will reference this “poppy-cock” as creditable . . . Complete story »
Dear AMA Federal Office Bearers
Following my review of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) Position Statement on Wind Farms and Health 2014, I feel it is important to send this letter to you. I wish to express my grave concern that the Position Statement as it is issued is not consistent with the Code of Ethics of the Australian Medical Association which your website identifies as representing the core of fundamental principals to guide doctors in their professional conduct, concerning issues such as respect for . . . A community’s distress over communal symptoms
Dr. Steve Hambleton, President Australian Medical Association Dear Dr. Hambleton, It is with great distress that I write to you today regarding the release of the AMA’s Position Statement on Wind Farms and Health. I am a 61 year old woman who has been living in the presence of a wind generating development since February 2012. I can assure you that prior to the start up of the IWTs I had exceptional health, since then my life has been an . . . Complete story »
