Fire has destroyed a wind turbine in South Australia’s Mid North, with the cost of the damage estimated at $2.2 million. Country Fire Service crews were notified at about 8:50am of smoke coming from the top of a wind turbine at the Clements Gap Wind Farm between Redhill and Mundoora, south of Clements Gap Road. Malfunctioning wind turbine causes closure of county road in Osceola Co
A hard-surfaced road south of Allendorf is closed until further notice. According to Sibley Fire Chief Ken Huls, emergency crews in Osceola County have closed a section of County Road A22 near Allendorf. Huls says A22, or 170th Street is closed for one mile, west of Highway 59, due to a malfunctioning wind turbine. A fire has destroyed a turbine and caused multiple spot fires at a wind turbine farm in Redhill, located in the state’s Mid North. 5 CFS crews are currently working to create an exclusion zone around the collapsing wind turbine. The firefighters are staying on top of spot fires created by falling debris where possible while remaining clear from the turbine collapse zone. Walkers enjoying a Sunday stroll were shocked to see a wind turbine burst into flames, disintegrate and explode. The wind turbine, located at Blaen Bowi Wind Farm, at Moelfra Hill near Newcastle Emlyn caught fire shortly before midday. Wind turbine in Newcastle Emlyn catches on fire
Fire services were called after a wind turbine caught on fire on Sunday. Pieces of the turbine in Blaen Bowi, Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire, were falling on to nearby ground during the blaze. Newcastle Emlyn and Carmarthen crews arrived at the scene at 11:46 GMT and helped put it out.
