Misfortune will blow our way if we rely on wind turbines for almost all our electricity
The fine weather of recent weeks is starting to worry the farming community. Seen from their perspective, it marks the start of drought conditions that can play havoc with farm output and profitability. Met Éireann has already announced that 24 out of 25 weather stations are currently observing “absolute droughts”, a period of 15 or more consecutive days with daily rainfall of less than 0.2mm. Indeed, most have already experienced between 15 and 26 days of “absolute drought”.” Perhaps the . . . Complete story »
Britain’s green energy disaster should be an awful warning to Americans
Last year, the Biden administration set an ambitious new goal for the USA: to deploy 30 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind capacity by the year 2030, increasing US offshore capacity more than seven hundred times over. The UK already has 15 GW of offshore wind, more than 300 times as much as the USA: and our experience should be a terrible warning to Americans. The UK’s electricity prices are the highest since records began in 1920 and are now amongst . . . Complete story »
NH SEC dismisses Antrim’s wind turbine issues
Ever since Antrim Wind Energy came online in late 2019, neighbors have been impacted by the project’s apparent failure to operate within the terms of the certificate granted by the NH Site Evaluation Committee. In 2021, “the Committee voted to have complaints filed through December 31, 2021, investigated by a three-person subcommittee” and emphasized that it “recommend to the Committee the appropriate sound measurement analysis to be used in reviewing noise complaints.” Other complaints included a radar-based system that was . . . This sounds like a problem
A new report has revealed wind farms were the biggest source of electricity in Britain for the first time in the first three months of this year, after hundreds of new turbines started turning. It is a significant milestone. But, with thousands of structures all over the country – and many more planned – is it something we should be celebrating or just a bit of spin? A review of noise caused by onshore wind turbines carried out for the . . . Complete story »
The wind and solar power myth has finally been exposed
Many governments in the Western world have committed to “net zero” emissions of carbon in the near future. The US and UK both say they will deliver by 2050. It’s widely believed that wind and solar power can achieve this. This belief has led the US and British governments, among others, to promote and heavily subsidise wind and solar. These plans have a single, fatal flaw: they are reliant on the pipe-dream that there is some affordable way to store . . . Complete story »
Green energy movement hijacked by the ‘eco-industrial complex’
“We must take control of our environmental movement and our future from billionaires and their permanent war on Planet Earth. They are not our friends.” —Jeff Gibbs, filmmaker, Planet of the Humans Jeff Gibbs drove all the way from his home in Michigan to share his documentary – Planet of the Humans – at the Essex Cinemas in Vermont last week. What began as a quest to save the planet and shed light on the widespread environmental damage happening at . . . Complete story »
Pay attention to corporate climate profiteering
Up to now criticism of the Clean Heat Standard bill (S.5) has focused on its intended result of driving up prices of heating oil, propane, kerosene and natural gas somewhere from seventy cents to four dollars a gallon, in order to finance $2 billion worth of subsidies to people to quit using those fuels and install “cold climate heat pumps”, “advanced wood heat”, and home weatherization. The bill is built upon a complex “credit” system managed by the unaccountable Public . . . Complete story »
Offshore wind farms bring many uncertainties to RI fishing industry, consumers
“Developing wind farms and their array of cable is little different than strip mining mountains for coal.” Alex Kuffner’s article “In a breakthrough year for offshore wind, RI is playing a key role” (News, April 8) informs the reader of developments in the current state of offshore wind. There is a significant component of residents who worry about this. I refer to those who fish – commercially, recreationally and for-hire fishermen (charter) – as well as those who depend on them to . . . Complete story »
The endless wind drought crippling renewables
The spectre of power failure is haunting Europe as Britain and Germany demonstrate that modern societies can’t run on wind and solar power. Wind droughts are the fatal flaw in the system and one can envisage a future book titled How Wind Droughts Destroyed Western Civilisation. Think about the consequences of a system blackout if Net Zero policies are pursued to the bitter end in Western Europe and Australia… Texas in 2021 gave us a glimpse of the abyss during . . . It’s past time for an honest discussion about “green energy”
All forms of energy cause environmental impacts, from its extraction, creation, use, and disposal. We deserve honest information to balance pros and cons and make judgments because it’s not simply “good vs. bad.” Government imposed policies slowing oil and gas production and forcing “green energy” have economic, national security, moral and environmental costs. Individuals and businesses should be free to make choices once armed with the facts. First, there is no such thing as pure “green energy.” Politicians and activists . . . Complete story »
