Annulation historique des autorisations éoliennes
[The Council of State rendered a historic decision on March 8 making authorizations for onshore wind turbines and the rules for renewing wind facilities illegal. This decision is the result of a request submitted by the Fédération Environnement Durable and fifteen associations. The Council of State canceled all of the provisions concerning the three successive versions of the noise pollution measurement protocol intended to protect the health of neighbors. This decision not only concerns authorizations and current projects, but could . . . Complete story »
. . Complete story »
The American revolt against green energy has begun
There’s no such thing as a wind or solar ‘farm’, just an ugly industrial site. In a story filled with all the standard climate alarmist narratives, USA Today recently reported on the rising movement by local governments in the United States to refuse to permit unwanted wind and solar industrial sites in their jurisdictions. After setting the stage by parroting the Biden administration goals of “100 per cent clean energy by 2035, a goal that depends on the building of . . . Complete story »
Ocean City’s firm stand against US Wind’s Offer: Integrity over price
In the serene setting of Ocean City, a storm brews not from the natural forces of the Atlantic but from a proposal that has sparked a wave of controversy along its shores. US Wind, a company with ambitious plans to erect 940 wind turbines off the coast, has extended an olive branch wrapped in dollar bills to nearby communities, including Ocean City itself. Yet, in an era where silence can be bought, one voice resounds with unwavering clarity: the future . . . Complete story »
Ocean City is not for sale
Recently, US Wind, the company planning to build 940 tall wind turbines as close as 10.9 miles off the coast of Ocean City, has engaged in discussions with our neighboring Delaware Resort Communities offering them Community Benefit Packages. The packages offer payments up to 2 million dollars to be dispersed to these communities over a 20-year period. These Community Benefit Packages are in exchange for the commitment that these local government officials would refrain from making any negative comments or . . . Complete story »
House committees ignore billion-dollar cost of Renewable Energy Standard – what is going on?
An open letter to Chairs Amy Sheldon and Emelie Kornheiser and members of the House Environment and Energy and House Ways and Means Committees – I write with a heavy heart and honestly in a state of shock because of the lack of due diligence and scrutiny happening around the cost impacts to Vermonters with the current version of H.289, the Renewable Energy Standard (RES). As you know, this bill requires 100% of electricity sold by Vermont utilities to be . . . Complete story »
Some Australians still need convincing the country’s future lies in renewable energy
Last year, the Energy Minister asked the Energy Infrastructure Commissioner to investigate regional pockets of stubborn resistance and recommend ways of getting the doubters onside. Andrew Dyer’s Community Engagement Review Report makes the bold assumption that Chris Bowen’s renewable energy plan can be put back on track, that his target of installing a 7MW wind turbine every 18 hours and 22,000 solar panels a day until 2030 is not as fanciful as it sounds. Opposition in the regions can be . . . Complete story »
Offshore wind and the stress on commercial fishermen
Congressional Republicans are sounding the Mayday alarm this weekend to the grave challenges commercial fishermen face resulting from the Biden administration’s offshore wind agenda. Offshore wind development is placing enormous stress on the American commercial fishing fleet, which may not survive these challenges. A trio of coastal lawmakers, Reps. Andy. Harris (R-Md.), Chris Smith (R.-N.J.), and Jeff Van Drew (R-N.J.) will explore offshore wind farm interactions at an upcoming hearing, which their colleagues and the public should heed. President Joe . . . Complete story »
Offshore wind farms are vulnerable to cyberattacks
The emerging technology lacks the regulatory framework necessary to protect itself Summary: Researchers have presented a new study on cyberattack risks to offshore wind farms in Glasgow, United Kingdom. They looked specifically at wind farms that use voltage-source-converter high-voltage direct-current (VSC-HVDC) connections, which are rapidly becoming the most cost-effective solution to harvest offshore wind energy around the world. They found that their complex, hybrid-communication architecture presents multiple access points for cyberattacks. The hurrying pace of societal electrification is encouraging from . . . Energy industry bill disenfranchises Vermonters
A new bill, S.236, is under consideration by the Senate Finance committee. This bill will make it more difficult for the public – including adjoining landowners – to object to new industrial-scale renewable energy projects. As a lifelong environmental advocate, I oppose this legislation on many grounds, not least of which is the fact that it disenfranchises ordinary Vermonters trying to protect the environment from industrial development. It is the very definition of tyrannical, top-down government limiting the rights of . . . Complete story »
