Concerns with East Point windmills proposal
We retired and moved back to East Point where my wife grew up. It is so beautiful here it was once considered to become a national park. P.E.I. Energy is planning to build 60-storey windmills (175 metres) in East Point. My concern is what effect they will have on our migratory bird route, our lands natural beauty and our health? Concerned about wind farm development
For the past 20 years, I have divided my life between East Point, P.E.I. and a small, rural town in upstate New York. I am invested in both communities. I call both communities home. Like many Americans, I was drawn to P.E.I. by the beauty of its land and sea. I am grateful for a community that respects and cares for its natural resources. I came, also, to escape the pipelines, fracking, power plants and wind turbines. My small rural . . . Complete story »

Eastern Kings says no to allowing wind turbines closer to homes
The community of Eastern Kings is saying no to allowing wind turbines to be built closer to local homes. The decision follows a request by the P.E.I. Energy Corporation, as it looks at expanding its wind farm in the area. Council members in the rural municipality passed a motion Aug. 14 to deny the energy corporation’s request for a bylaw variance. That variance would have allowed turbines to be located 900 metres from homes and buildings. The current bylaw requires . . . Complete story »
