Judge rules Libertyville wind turbine case will go to trial

Nancy Zeivel said she was both upset and disappointed with Lake County Associate Judge Mitchell Hoffman’s ruling Thursday the legality of a wind turbine in her back yard will be determined at trial. A Lake County judge has delayed ruling on whether Libertyville officials acted lawfully in allowing Aldridge Electric Inc. to build a wind turbine until a hearing on July 21. Citizens look to Thursday hearing for wind turbine resolution

Comparing the noise of a nearby 120-foot wind turbine to the sound of a semitruck’s brakes, neighbors are asking a Lake County judge to decide at a Thursday hearing whether Libertyville officials acted lawfully in issuing a permit to build the turbine. Discussion continues on wind turbine regulations

Libertyville announces further height and sound restrictions as the Plan Commission continues to discuss amending the village’s wind turbine ordinance. Libertyville officials continue to discuss amending the village’s policy to allow wind turbines as residents offer further suggestions to ensure the policy is fair to homeowners. Libertyville’s plan commission addressed height and sound restrictions and issues brought by residents as the village continues to revise its code allowing wind turbines within the village. Village staff have been preparing a road map to better regulate future use of wind turbines in Libertyville.
