The Kildare Fire Department (KFD) received a call on Tuesday morning at 7:23 about the downed wind turbine.

Officials said the cause is not known.

KFD did note that energy crews in the office noticed several turbines had shut down right before the incident.

People near the area said it felt like an earthquake and sounded like an explosion.

reneweconomy.com.au: The Frontier II wind farm is operated by Deriva Energy, formerly Duke Energy Renewables, which was acquired by the renewables division of US asset management firm Brookfield.

kaynewscow.com: Kildare fire chief Travis Harris said that the residents at least four miles away reported hearing the sound early today. The wind energy company has been notified.

koco.com: Kildare Fire Department officials told KOCO 5 that the collapse is “bizarre” because it wasn’t windy. Pictures and video sent to KOCO 5 show the collapsed wind turbine in several pieces and even mangled. Debris was also scattered across the farmland. Kildare is a small town in Kay County that is about 115 miles north of Oklahoma City.
