A wind turbine that previously caught fire and was damaged during a storm was brought down with explosives Tuesday near Mechanicsville.
Iowa’s News Now was on scene when the turbine was brought down. Cedar County Emergency Management said Acciona, the owner of the turbine, has been working to remove the turbine because it was no longer functional.
The turbine was brought down at 7:30 Tuesday morning.
Mechanicsville Fire Department, Mechanicsville Ambulance, Cedar County Sheriff’s Office and Cedar County Emergency Management were all on site when the explosives were set off.
