Wind turbines in Luxembourg regularly shut down to protect bats

From 1 May to 31 October, the Garnich wind farm performs “bat shutdowns” for one hour before sunset and, under some conditions, until sunrise. However, this is not just the case in Garnich. All wind farms in Luxembourg must adhere to regulations regarding the protection of bats, Minister for Energy Claude Turmes confirmed in answer to a parliamentary question from the Pirate Party.
