Short meeting for zoning board

Short meeting for Zoning Board | Taylorville Breeze-Courier | March 23, 2022 | www.breezecourier.com

(TAYLORVILLE) – The Christian County Zoning Board of Appeals held a brief meeting with only one topic discussed and approval given to changes in the Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) rules. Several other topics on the agenda were not discussed, according to Chairman Steve Sipes.

The change permits wind companies to erect meteorologic towers, which record wind speeds and other weather information. The new regulations require a red light on top – non-strobe – and no higher than 150-feet tall. A permit fee of $200 per tower will be assessed.

The measure must now go to the Christian County Board for approval to be added to the zoning code.

Other items which included text amendments for the zoning code concerning a re- zoning request; requirements for compliance with local drainage districts; and flood damage prevention, were not brought before the Board, Sipes said.
