Ex-commissioner still angry at wind farm

Apparently ousted commissioner Dianne Novak isn’t done raising her objections about Diamond Vista wind farm.

As Monday’s commission meeting began, she sent a text to commissioners.

“The Northern wind project, Diamond Visa / Enel has been in full operation for about a year and seven months,” Novak wrote. “Despite the signed road maintenance agreement, they left Marion County taxpayers holding the bag on the $473,020 for the various road damages they caused to our roads. I want to know, as of today’s date, has this debt been paid? How long will this commission allow this outrageous breach of contract to continue?”

Commissioner Randy Dallke told Novak county counsel Brad Jantz told Novak the money is on its way.

In other business, commissioners approved the appointment of Morris County attorney Laura Viar to be special prosecutor for criminal charges against Florence resident Tom Britain.

Britain is charged with violation of a protection from stalking order following his appearance at last week’s meeting when planning and zoning director Sharon Omstead spoke, despite a restraining order Omstead obtained in November after an incident at a Florence convenience store.
