Protest grows over Kintradwell Wind Farm

By Caroline McMorran | The Northern Times | 07 April 2021 | www.northern-times.co.uk

Planners have received a deluge of objections to the planned 15-turbine Kintradwell Wind Farm.

A check of the authority’s e-planning site today shows that 104 public representations have been made.

All of the comments lodged are against the proposed development which would be sited in close proximity to Brora on Kintradwell Estate, owned by John Billett.

Many regular visitors to Brora have written in.

Objector Valerie Parson wrote that she was “horrified and shocked” at the plan.

“The impact on Brora and the surrounding area will be environmentally disastrous in a class one area of deep peat,” she stated.

Developer RES has lodged the application with the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit as required under section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 for wind farms with a generating capacity in excess of 50MW.

However, the local authority is a statutory consultee and will take a decision over whether or not to support it.

Representations should be made by April 16.
