Accountability cometh — if only partially — for now

Turbine Finale Fixed On Falmouth Town Manager

The new employment agreement for Falmouth’s Town Manager begins this November.  Any increases in the three year contract will be determined by Mr. Suso completing four identified goals set by Selectmen.

One of the four goals the board set as priorities for Mr. Suso between now and November, his annual job performance review, is the taking down and disposal of the wind turbines.

State Accountability Silence

The State ‘sold’ Falmouth these wind turbines would provide our towns with welcome revenue streams and no adverse impact – and be good for the planet as well.  Falmouth is the only town on Cape Cod that fell for the State’s sales pitch.

Unfortunately, the afflicted neighbors and the town’s taxpayers are the injured parties here.  Incontrovertibly, there were and continues to be adverse impacts.  The State and the State’s consultant representation were the Pied Pipers who incentivized the project, the town’s taxpayer the innocent lemmings cast over a cliff of deception and misrepresentation.

Extortion’s Two-Way Street

Absent the State taking responsibility and being held accountable for it’s original part played at the beginning —  Falmouth ought consider compensatory damages by way of leveraging permitting specifically toward the State’s new offshore wind energy incentives and development.  After all, offshore wind project success is directly correlated to where landfall is made, and all the multitude of impacts to be weighed involving connection to the Eversource Grid in Falmouth.
