Protecting condors as wind power ascends — Part 2

In our recent coverage of the Manzana Wind Power Project proposal, we reported some of Tri-County Watchdogs’ comments to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS)about the proposed project’s implications for the area’s California condor population.

The project permit area covers about 5,515 acres in the Antelope Valley, along the southern foothills of the Tehachapi Mountains. If approved, the permit would allow the “incidental take” (permitted killing or injuring) of up to two free-flying California condors and two associated eggs or chicks over the permit’s 30 years.
