SafeWork NSW is investigating a workplace accident at Bango Wind Farm on Lachlan Valley Way in the state’s south.

A man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney on Thursday, 4 February, after his hand was amputated while working on machinery.

A SafeWork NSW spokesperson said its inspectors had completed a site visit and the investigation “may take some months” to complete.

Bango Wind Farm is a development of 45 wind turbines on agricultural land in the Southern Tablelands, 30km north of Yass near the towns of Boorowa and Rye Park.

Construction of the wind farm was approved by the Independent Planning Commission NSW in 2018 and began in 2019.

Its owner, CWP Renewables, declined to comment.
