A 10-year-old planning application to install wind turbines near Llanidloes has been withdrawn.

An application was lodged by EDF Energy in June 2010 with Powys County Council for nine wind turbines.

The 125-metre tall tall turbines were proposed for a site known as Hirddywel, which is around 6.5km south-east of the town of Llanidloes.

EDF Energy proposed to install nine wind turbines with a maximum height to blade tip of 125m.

The application also included a permanent sub station and compound, a permanent 80m meteorological mast, borrow pits, transformer units, crane pads, cabling and the culverting of watercourses, access track construction, off-site highway works and temporary construction compounds.

However, the application has now been withdrawn.

It is not currently known whether there are any plans to resubmit the application at a later date.
