Wind turbines in my backyard

Southwestern Wyoming Residence near the 287 corridor headed south to Fort Collins, say they are looking to halt a wind energy project that would put wind turbines in their backyards.

The State of Wyoming has 1,000 wind turbines across the Equality state. The state board of land commissioners voted unanimously against a leasing project in its first phases to add more wind energy development to SW Wyoming.

“What we are looking at as far as this valley, all the way from Ames monument all the way to Boulder ridge back there, this would be entirely filled with wind Turbines.”

A wind energy company is looking to develop an industrial wind generation facility near Vedauwoo called the Rail Tie Project. “Albany County is suited well to help develop in the wind energy space, so I think that we’ll continue to have projects come on line unless something replaces wind as being a more efficient and lower cost energy system.” Albany County Commissioner, Pete Gosar said.

After speaking with Paul and his group, he says they want to work with the Albany County Commissioners to assure the land is preserved in that area.
