Wind farms of concern

The Advocate | August 4 2020 | www.theadvocate.com.au

I am very concerned about UPC’s Robbins Island and Jims Plains wind farm projects and the environmental and residential impacts these will cause.

The EPA who are supposed to ensure Tasmania’s vulnerable wildlife including migratory birds and eagles are cared for and taken into account in any development proposal seem only too happy to grant this foreign company a permit to proceed with this development.

Similarly, the state and federal governments are only too keen to fast track industrial scale renewable energy projects in this state.

Threatened species are a distant thought (along with any concerns from local residents) until they are gone forever, like the Tasmanian Tiger and other species, but of course then it is too late.

I am all for renewable energy – but not when it is located in the habitat of threatened species. These species have a right to live their lives just as much as us. Why our governments don’t see this I cannot understand.
