Jaisalmer: A windmill collapsed on Monday at Bada Bagh, just 5 km away from Jaisamer district headquarters.
There was no one near the windmill at the time of the incident, thereby averting a big tragedy.
It is said that the windmill, that belonged to a private company, was very old and needed maintenance.
Wind energy companies in Jaisalmer have special identity in power generation and have set up their windmills.
However, the officers appointed for their upkeep have been negligent in their duties, due to which this accident occurred.
According to eye witnesses strong winds were blowing in the area due to which the fan started spinning at a speed and a little later three blades and the pool fell on the ground.
Rakesh Bairwa, additional SP, confirmed the incident. He added that the company has been directed to replace old windmills or get them repaired on time to avoid such accidents.
