SANFORD, N.Y. –

The Town Board of Sanford is making its decision on whether to change the local laws of the area in relation to wind turbines on Tuesday, after over 2 months of deliberation.

For over 2 years, Sanford residents have been fighting to prevent a wind turbine project from moving into the area.

The Calpine Corporation has proposed the Bluestone Wind Project involving 700-foot wind turbines throughout the areas of Windsor, Deposit and Sanford.

At a public hearing in October members of the group Broome County Concerned Residents and members of the workforce that would benefit from the jobs both let their voices be heard to the Town Board.

Ultimately, the Planning Board recommended changes in local law to protect local residents that would put the project in jeopardy.

The Town Board put that decision on a moratorium, and that decision will finally be made this Tuesday, December 10th, at Sanford Town Board Meeting.
