Oct 29, Colombo: A fire has broken out at a private wind power plant in Daluwa, Puttalam last evening.
Investigations carried out by the Norochcholai Police have revealed that the fire was caused by a technical fault which occurred inside one of the wind turbines.
Residents have seen the fire erupting near the top of the wind turbine and pieces falling to the ground.
The wind turbine, 100 meters in height, supplies two megawatts to the national grid. No casualties has been reported due to the fire.
