At fall town meeting Nov. 12, Falmouth will again be asked to fund the town’s wind turbine “white elephants.” This, even after Gov. Charlie Baker admitted to the House Committee on Natural Resources in Washington, D.C., that Falmouth’s project failed due to how and where the turbines were sited.
Who were the town’s advisers and experts on this? Why, it was the state and its Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, that’s who.
The governor’s admission has, so far, been without action. He’s left Falmouth to face the financial consequences alone. This lack of state support underscores the caution necessary when government promises become a community’s economic burden.
