Eagle-eyed residents near the Lal Lal Windfarm have spotted a wind turbine missing one of its three blades.

Thought to have occurred last night, locals have noticed the turbines at Spreadeagle Road near Yendon have not been running this morning.

A spokesperson for Lal Lal Windfarm has confirmed their technical team is investigating after one of the blades from their V136-3.6 megawatt turbine broke.

It’s estimated the blade came adrift around 6:40pm, the same time as the storm passed through the area.

It’s not yet known if the storm caused the turbine to break.

Lal Lal Windfarms has confirmed that no one was injured and there has been no property damage as a result of the incident, and WorkSafe Victoria have also been contacted.

The affected area has been sealed off by workers.

All operations at the windfarm have been suspended until further notice, while they work to determine what caused the blade to break.
