Wind energy questions need honest answers

Winterset Madisonian | Sep 11, 2019 | www.wintersetmadisonian.com

Where does energy produced in Iowa go? I am told Chicago receives most.

What does it cost to transport? How much is lost in this transport (efficiency)? Why not build these windmills in the Windy City? Who pays for installation, (taxpayers)?

When windmills are abandoned the land is to be returned to it’s original state – can’t be done!

Also, most of us will not be here to witness.

How much of our local natural resource (limestone) is lost to enlarge rural corners and driveways to windmills?

What has this done to cost of rock for our county road use and personal use?

I do not believe Fitch is strictly standing up for the acreage owners. I am a longtime local farmer and opposed to this wasteful, inefficient, taxpayer expense.

I have had representatives of the wind turbines stop and explain the expansion plans. I ask them, “If you lived here and I told you a wind turbine was going to be built within 1/2 mile, what would be your response?”

They always say they wouldn’t like it, turn and walk away saying, “This is my job!”
