Welsh Government insists on wind farms

Western Mail | www.walesonline.co.uk

Should Labour win the forthcoming election they will subsidise onshore wind and build turbines across the country.

The Welsh Government has insisted on this for more than 10 years.

Its new National Development Framework prioritises huge swathes of land for new wind farms, including most of Anglesey.

This is in addition to the massive areas allocated in Welsh planning legislation TAN8.

The Conservative government stopped subsidising onshore wind because local communities did not want to be blighted by these developments; it also altered English planning law to give English communities the right to refuse turbines.

However, the Welsh Government does not give communities any choice. And the Welsh Government and Labour are totally committed to subsidising onshore wind and more pylons to connect wind farms to the network.

They refuse to listen to communities such as those in Anglesey, which have shown that 90% of the island’s residents do not want wind farms within a mile of homes.
