Taxpayer scam

Watertown Public Opinion | August 27, 2019 | www.thepublicopinion.com

I read the letter “Wind Powers Opportunity in SD” by Tom Paulson, spokesman for the wind industry. I believe it does create “Opportunity” for bureaucrats, lobbyists, politicians and the multinational corporations who take in billions a year of taxpayer money from this scam called wind energy. It creates “Opportunity” for absentee landowners that couldn’t care less about their rural neighbor’s quality of life.

On the other side of “Opportunity” is the destruction of rural living, health issues and property devaluation for those living in the wind project. I’ve yet to talk to anybody living within 2 miles of a wind turbine that wanted more. Just last week the Madison County, Iowa Board of Health pronounced Industrial Wind Turbines a Health Hazard.

Paulson touts all the jobs created. Car accidents also create jobs, so do fires and wars. My idea of the best electricity source would be the MOST electricity using the LEAST amount of jobs. After all, the wages for all these jobs get paid by the utility ratepayer. Wind is renewable. But wind turbines are not, each taking 900 tons of steel, 2500 tons of concrete, 45 tons of non-recyclable plastic and 900 pounds of rare earth elements plus the fossil fuels used to manufacture, deliver and maintain them.

Now even the liberals have stumbled across the truth. Michael Moore’s new documentary “Planet of the Humans”, Michael Shellenberger and Bill Gates’ U tubes all expose the fact that this “renewable energy craze” is nothing more than a taxpayer scam. Wind turbines are nothing more than subsidy meters. Contact your legislators. They are selling South Dakota out to Big Wind.
